STORY TIME|| DYED AND WHAT NOT!

Hey kinks... So let me tell you a quick long story about my hair in general but mainly my dyed hair..  I might divert from the topic but oh well...

So when I first cut my hair; like all of it,  the plan wasn't even to go natural. As it grew in its natural state (the plan was to relax it after it got longer) but yeah as it grew in it's natural state people started complimenting me on how thick it looked (my relaxed hair was thick and long so imagine what it looks like without perm in it)...  So as time passed by I was like yeah...  Am feeling this!  Plus my friend was starting a natural skin and hair line and my hair was available as a guinea pig so I went on with it...

In the beginning I felt so bored with the hair cos it was in a TWA phase and I had a bright idea, I was like 'Am going to dye my hair yaay me' Now this is somebody with the least knowledge on what to do with my hair so I went to the market, bought an expensive dye and went home by myself and dyed it.. It didn't work (my hair was too African for it lol) so that same day I threw on a shower cap,  went back and bought cheap dyes and came home and damaged my hair with my hands lol...
But thank God for Jesus for some reason I have really Co operative hair that eventually just became normal... Mind you at this point I still had plans of relaxing it...

But as time went by I started researching and reading a lot about natural hair and I found out that there was a whole community for the movement I was like 'cammmann it's not that serious it's just relaxer'
but I heard a song by India Arie about her hair and I was like wow...

So one day I thought about it long and deep I was like 'why did I cut my hair?, like what's my main reason?' let me just list three

  • If you know me you know I love hair and I DIDNT go to any school to teach me how to make hair I learnt it on my own... So basically I was obsessed with my hair and it became like a mini god to me cos anything you worship act as a god in your life
  • They say a woman that cuts her hair is about to change her life and I reaaaaallly needed a change (this is the first time am going to be openly saying this) I was hurting so much from a break up that was like six years old (and I was frustrated because I thought I should have gotten over it right I mean it's SIX YEARS! caaaaammmmaan)
I was tired of people defining me, I was tired of low key conforming to the world.. So I was ready to change my life.
  • I was mainly physically referred to as 'Tega with the long hair' so I wanted to show people that I am more than 'tega with the long hair'

Back to the dye story, so after I decided to be natural I rocked my dyed hair for exactly 11/2 years and I was over it,  cos my hair was dry all the time and it broke like no man's business so I cut off all the dyed ends and basically started to regrow my hair.

Another point I am trying to make with this story is sometimes when you don't like where you are you have to make some physical changes to get to where you want to be or at least be on the road there.

5 TIPS TO HELP REDUCE SPLIT ENDS AND BREAKAGE

Hey kinks what's up y'all?.... Greetings! I hope everyone is having a fab day?

Okay so to the post what is a split end?  The end of a hair strand is damaged resulting in the strand separating into two or more fragments.

Hair breakage is more of a problem for naturals than split ends because split ends is as a result of many activities that a TRUE natural try to avoid..

Most naturals really suffer from hair breakage and I used to be a part of the team (even do my hair still breaks it has reduced a lot)

Here are five tips to help you manage hair breakage..

TRIM YOUR HAIR AS OFTEN AS POSSIBLE:I came in contact with someone who told me that she has a phobia for cutting her hair and she was worried she was weird, but the psychologist in  me didn't see her as crazy though, this is a real problem that a lot of women have. With that being said,  trimming your hair doesn't mean you are cutting it off, it means you cutting of the damaged ends to allow new growth to be possible.

3 REASONS WHY YOUR HAIR ISN'T GROWING

Hey kinks what's up y'all? Happy weekend darlings..

So based on the numerous questions on hair growth, here are three reasons why your hair isn't growing.

YOU COMB IT ALL THE TIME: I have stressed this IN  my hair journey that I don't comb my hair all the time. In fact one of my new year's hair resolution is to comb my hair less this year..  So I take finger detangling serious and I am patient with it. Combing of natural hair (which is already hard in the first place)causes SERIOUS tension to your hair follicles and breaks your hair more than it would if you just finger detangle!.

YOU DO NOT MAINTAIN A HAIR ROUTINE: like I have said in previous post you have to be consistent but not just consistent, you must have a hair routine or regimen.. Your hair has to be accustomed to a specific method.. It's not everything that is flying in the market that you should do (Charley trust me I learnt the had way).. There are a lot of DIY's out there but you have to be c…

So lets get straight into them. STYLES: Some particular hair styles can actually help your shrinking hair life, the best way i like to stretch out my hair is to put it in a Bantu knot, it not only stretches it out but it is also stylish. I do not like applying heat to my hair at all, i try my possible best to stay away from heat application so this is a very efficient way of stretching out my hair.
AFRICAN THREADING TECHNIQUE: This is basically how our mothers wore their hair in the good ole days and it stretches out your hair beautiful..
MAKE SURE THAT YOUR HAIR IS NOT LEFT OUT FOR TOO LONG: Now I am here for the cute twist out and all and other beautiful ha…
